Professional Career
Chicago Bulls – 2019-Present
On June 20, 2019, Coby White got selected with the 7th pick in the 2019 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls. White became the first player who attended North Carolina University to have gotten selected in the first round since Michael Jordan (1984). In the 2019 Summer League, he averaged 23.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.4 assists in 5 games. In his NBA debut, White scored 17 points and seven assists in a 126-125 loss against the Charlotte Hornets. On February 20, he set a career-high in points with 33 points in a 112-104 loss against the Phoenix Suns. White scored 30+ points in 3 games. He finished his rookie season with averages of 13.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 65 games.
On February 10, 2021, White finished with 30 points, including eight three-pointers in a 126-115 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. White would finish his second season with averages of 15.1 points, 4.8 assists, and 4.1 rebounds in 69 games.
On June 10, 2021, Coby White underwent surgery on his left shoulder. On September 23, the Bulls exercised their four-year option on White, which meant he would stay on the Bulls until 2022-23. White played his first game on November 15 against the Los Angeles Lakers; he only played 11 minutes and didn’t score any points. But White ended up starting 17 games due to injuries to other guards, including Caruso and Ball. He finished the season averaging 12.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.9 rebounds in 61 games. In the playoffs, he averaged 8.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 5 games against the Milwaukee Bucks.
